Insect control is one of the most important activities that are to be carried out by every lawn owner. There are some easy methods that can be applied to control insects in your lawn.

A home remedy for insect control is cucumber. Ants, vasps, mites, flies, moths and most of the other insects hate cucumbers. The cucumber peels are considered to be very effective in getting rid of ants. Bitter cucumbers are considered to be a more effective remedy for insect control. The main advantage of using cucumbers as a means of insect control is that it is a natural way of getting rid of insects. It is a good alternative to toxic chemicals that can be used for insect control. The main problem with using chemicals for insect control is that they pose a health risk for humans as well as animals. 

Another effective way of insect control is the use of natural substances such as orange peel extracts, garlic grinded with water, pepper, powdered charcoal, cinnamon and neem oil. Neem oil and neem seeds are considered to be most effective means of insect control. They are extremely helpful to avoid fungus growth and weed growth along with effective insect control. Neem seeds and neem oil repels as well as kills various insects including the mites that are a great headache for most of the lawn owners. Neem oil and neem seeds helps in fighting many scourges and it is harmless to plants, birds, humans, pets and other beneficial insects such as ladybugs, praying mantis etc. You can also use lime, copper or ashes to control snails in your lawn. Baking soda mixed with powdered sugar is an excellent roach killer. You can also use boric acid for insect control.

Another effective way of insect control in your lawn is growing plants that belong to Alliums family along with other plants. The plants of garlic, onions, scallions and chives are excellent for insect control. Fennels attract ladybugs a lot. Ladybugs kill spider mites and aphids but are harmless to people, or plants. Cilantro, dill, parsley and angelica herbs also attract ladybugs in your lawn.  

Organic sprays are also an alternative for insect control in your lawn. It is also important to maintain proper fertility of the soil. Proper waste handling methods along with fine compost techniques are important to maintain the soil fertility. Maintenance of proper soil fertility greatly helps in insect control along with repelling weed and fungus growth in the lawn. This type of insect control method greatly depends upon the type of insects in your lawn.
