You can use different types of grasses, in your lawn according to the area and its climate. There are two types of grasses available for your lawn. Cool season grasses like Bent grass, Kentucky bluegrass, Ryes etc which need less temperature for their growth. Warm season grasses like Bermuda, Carpet grass etc which need high temperature for their growth.

You can use seeds to grow your lawn. Seeding will help you to create a good and healthy lawn. For seeding you need to seed at a particular rate called seeding rate. Seeding rate varies depending on the size of the seeds.  In case of small seeds you need fewer amounts of seeds for an area. In case of larger seeds you need more seeds for the same area.

You can use seeds to grow some part of the lawn that has bare patches. This practice is called as overseeding. When you overseed the lawn, seed rate should be increased by 25 – 50 % from the general seed rate.

You can use only one variety of seeds to make the lawn straight or you can mix seeds or blend them.
Blend seeds contains different varieties of seeds belong to one type of grass. These seeds results a good and a healthy lawn.

Lawn seeds mixture contains different varieties of seeds from different types of grass. This will offer a problem free lawn. Fewer pests are found here, as it is diversified.  See the packet of the lawn seed, to find out the details of the seeds inside. You will also find a mixture of cool and warm season grasses to maximize the strength. For example Bermuda and perennial rye can be mixed to give your lawn a good look in different seasons of the year. You will have a green look throughout the year as one of them will do well in summer and the other will do well in the winter time of the year. But this is trickier and problematic from the point of view of maintenance. You have to balance them in your lawn. The best time for seeding is late summer to early fall. During this time the soil remains warm which causes faster germination.

You can sow the lawn seeds by using a spreader. Sowing should be done in repeated application in different directions. After sowing the lawn, raking of the soil is necessary. Watering till germination will help in quick germination.

Always buy lawn seeds from reputed sellers. Check out the local seller for the best lawn seed.
